Summer Position: Heritage Interpreter — Deadline extended to April 26, 2021

Job Posting: Heritage Interpreter

Open to all candidates aged 15 by the start date to 30 years, to meet funding requirements.

Start Date: no earlier than May 17, 2021

End Date: no later than September 4, 2021

Work Description:

– provide visitor service and tours of the museum, respond to public queries
- administrative duties such as, updating museum databases, telephone, processing donations, memberships, correspondence, cash handling

– assist in researching and preparing materials for exhibits, based on Owen Sound’s marine, rail and/or industrial history & create materials for community outreach programs

– assist with marketing and promotion (print material, media releases, social media, mail-outs, distribution)

– assist Collections with artifact accessioning, conservation, organization, and storage
- assist with special events, fundraising and marketing activities for the museum

Experience & Skills Required:

– well-developed customer service experience, a must

– well-developed professional communication skills, both verbal & written,

– computer skills – proficiency in Word, Excel, PastPerfect an asset

– team building & organization

– must be able to multi-task effectively with constant interruptions

– museum experience an asset – acquisitions, artifact handling, archival research
