The Chi-Cheemaun has left Owen Sound to begin its 52nd season of transporting cars between Tobermory and South Baymouth. The ferry left yesterday, April 30th on its repositioning cruise, leaving Owen Sound’s harbour empty.

Before leaving, the ‘Big Canoe’ held the annual networking cruise put on by Bruce County and Grey County, as well as the annual Sunset Cruise raising funds for the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer.

This year, the Women’s House Serving Bruce & Grey was selected as the onboard fundraising partner.

The Chi-Cheemaun’s schedule for 2026 runs from May 1 to October 18. The ferry’s return to Owen Sound has not been scheduled, as it will have to go to drydock at the end of the year for its 5-year inspection.
