Earlier this summer, Owen Sound received an uncommon visitor. The tugboat Jarret M arrived in our harbour on July 20th. The Jarret M is a project tug currently owned and operated by McKeil Marine. It arrived in preparation for work being done near Meaford. Over the course of the following week, the tug helped to construct a barge which it towed out of the harbour on the morning of the 27th.

The Jarret M is notable to many local history buffs as it was built right here in Owen Sound back in 1945. Originally known as the Atomic, it was built by Russel Brothers for Captain J. Earl McQueen, and it was one of their best-known tugboats.
