Owen Sound saw the return of one of its regulars on August 22, 2026. The tug Prentiss Brown and its barge the St. Marys Challenger arrived in the harbour as people watched from the Summerfolk festival nearby.
This marked the third shipment of cement to Owen Sound in 2026. However, the earlier shipments had come from the St. Marys plant in Bowmanville, Ontario rather than the one in Charlevoix, Michigan. This change of origin may have been due to the Challenger going to a regular drydock and inspection.
While it was nice to get the chance to see a new tug and barge pair when deliveries came on the Petite Forte and St. Marys Cement, we also appreciate getting to see this familiar sight.
